Dynamic Duo Project

During the summer I focused on my theme of suns and how they bring out life in things in various ways. I extended this idea of life and incorporated its opposite death in both of my head and heart projects for this summer.

With My theme of life It was very hard to decide on what to do so I ultimately decided on something that I use in day to day life to portray my artwork. I go skimboarding while at the beach and I thought this would be a perfect thing to do my artwork on because it is something important in my life. During this stage I had only brainstormed as well as sketched out my design in paper which was barely visible now that I look back on it.

When the end of July came around I realized that I was skimming a lot during the start and had to pretty much redraw my designs. I was still trying to play into my theme on life with the sun in this trying to determine how I was going to make it all flow together well.

By the around Start/ Midway of August I finally figured out how I would in cooperate my theme perfectly. I used the themes of life and death adding my Girlfriends name to the piece because she is my life while having it be protected by the sun from death. I also like how as I skim with this design it will start to wear over time further showing how with life there is always death.

Start of August Progress

I was stuck on my second one for a hot minute not making much progress at all during the entirety of June only having a vague Idea of what I may do for my Life theme. I added my sun once more and continued to brainstorm on what to do next.

In July I finally got the ball rolling on my idea for this piece. I decided to add the moon to symbolize death, while I had a character from one side to another showing how life grew as you were closer to the sun. I still did not know what to do with the background at this point in time.

Finally by the start of august I found what to do with the background. I looked at where I had my grass and added on some rays illuminating the suns rays of protection on the little guys giving them life as they moved to the realm of living.
